Wednesday 16th May - Turkey - Silifke
The road was a lot better today and we made good progress to Silifke. The woman at Nostalgie Camping had told us of a good campsite just short of Silifke, so after a quick look round the town, we drove back to the campsite. It was wonderful, in a little bay with a pebbly beach. The afternoon was hot and sunny so we all went swimming even Naomi had a good time.

The restaurant served excellent meals so we took advantage of that and ate there for a late lunch and then again in the evening. In common with the whole of Turkey so far, the campsite staff were lovely to the kids, patiently playing with them and their toy cars.

Since Kas we have found that we keep meeting the same people at the campsites one Dutch couple in particular have been at the same campsite as us for the last 4 nights and once again we were at the same campsite again tonight. Its been good to chat to them theyve given us plenty of ideas of how to spend our retirement! This is as far east as they go though, so it will be strange not to meet up again tomorrow night. We have met some very interesting fellow-travellers so far. A French couple who camped behind us tonight were on their way back home to France from Rajasthan in India! They live in India most of the year returning to France for the summer, so they do this journey twice a year.

This evening while we sat at the restaurant overlooking the bay we spotted caretta caretta turtles! They didnt come out of the sea, but from the shore you could spot them popping their heads up and then dropping back down beneath the waves. Keziah was very enthusiastic about spotting them as were we.
