|Tuesday 24th April - Italy - Paestum
We drove quite a long way today from Rome to south of Salerno. We had wondered about visiting Naples and seeing some sights there, including Pompeii but we decided not to go to another city. Our aim for the day was to find a good campsite right by a good beach.
We certainly succeeded in our quest. We are staying at Camping Athena in Paestum. Its a small campsite so that means its just us and about 15 German camper vans. All the tourists here seem to be Germans. The campsite opens directly onto a beautiful golden beach. Next to the campsite is a nice little restaurant with a playpark, sunloungers, parasols even buckets and spades for the kids to use.
We could happily spend a week or two here. The weather is beautiful and so we changed into beach gear and spent the afternoon at the beach and restaurant. Once again the place is pretty quiet.
Keziah and Naomi enjoyed playing with a couple of kids at the playpark. Naomi says Ciao! to people now, charming everybody in the hope that they might give her a lollipop. Keziah really concentrates on lugging into other peoples conversations trying to make sense of the Italian words. So, weve got one flirty daughter and one nosey one they both take after their mother after all.
