|Friday 20th April - Italy - Fregene
Today we had a relaxing morning at the campsite. The girls enjoyed the playpark, throwing stones into the lake and administering severe discipline to their dollies. Its quite sobering to hear them telling off their babies Andrew and I look at each other and hope that theyre not really copying our parenting style.
We packed in a leisurely fashion and then went into the village for lunch, before heading south towards the coast.
We arrived at Tarquinia Lido in the early afternoon. The beach is broad and long with grey-coloured sand. You can see that in high season it is obviously packed with people, but at this time of year it was virtually deserted. From the land to the sea the layout is boulevard, beach bar/changing area/toilets, playpark, sand, sea so that was pretty good for us. We had a fun afternoon and then packed up and went to get a campsite.
Our campsite hunt was a bit problematic. We visited 4 campsites along the Tarquinia stretch of coast, which were all either full, not yet open or not very nice. We then tried 3 hotels which were all full, but finally we booked into a Motel north of Fregene.
Good dinner in a nearby restaurant and all sleeping by 9.30!
